Notre Dame Cathedral Fire
As you have probably heard, at 6:30pm on Monday, April 15th, Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris caught on fire and burned until 9:45am the following day. Two-thirds of the roof was destroyed but most artifacts were saved. Some of the artifacts which were saved were the 8000 pipe organ and the beautiful stained glass rose windows.
The building itself was 800 years old and many visitors enjoyed the beauty of the old cathedral. In fact, over 30,000 people visited it every single day and 13 million people visited it each year. While the fire broke out, people were so heartbroken that they sang hymns in front of it hoping the fire would die down. Notre Dame will be closed for reconstruction for some time but a lot of money will be spent and work will be done to make it better than it has been for 800 years.
