Drivers vs the Driverless
As many of you know self driving cars are already a reality and Google’s waymo is being tested in the town of Chandler, Arizona, and people don’t seem all that happy about it.
During the past year (school year) the waymo cars have gotten a very unpleasent welcome. Mobs have thrown stones at the cars, shatering windows and hurting one test driver. In one incident a civilian threatended the driver with a revolver forcing him to get out of the neiborhood.
Why are people so afdraid of self driving cars. I think there is one obvious reason, jobs. Aproximatly 5 million people work in trains, buses, ubers, and taxis. All of there jobs are at huge risk. In my mind the big question is will the same thing happen in cities. Maybe driverless cars will only survive as comercialy sold cars.
An other idea is that maybe Ai will make its way into subways and other kinds of piblic transportation. But for know there is only one thing to do, sit back and see what happens.
